The Second Book of Mosheh

Sh\’moth refers to the opening words of the book – “These are THE NAMES” in the Hebrew.

“Exodus” is Latin for “the going forth”, and was put on this book by the Romish Catholic “church”. It is erroneous, as is most of catholicism, so I won’t be using their title. My translation follows the Hebrew chapter numbering, and some discrepancies will occur between the number of verses in the KJV and this translation. As in “Genesis”, all proper names of people and places will be in the Hebrew spelling. If you want to see the KJV spelling, follow along with your KJV side by side with this translation. 18. Called the king of Mitsrayim for the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this

19. Said the midwives to Par\’oh , “Because the women of Mitsrayim are not as the Hebrew women; because they are vigorous, and are delivered before the midwives come to them.”

20. Therefore Elohiym 430 dealt well 3190 with the midwives, and the people multiplied, and quickly 3966 became mighty 6105.

21. It came to be, because the midwives feared Elohiym 430, the He made them Houses 1004.

22. Charged 6680 Par\’oh all his people, saying, “Every son that is born you shall cast 7993 into the river 2975, and every daughter 1323 you shall save alive.”

Chapter 1 Notes

The new king that arose against Mitsrayim was of the conquering hyksos, that were noted for their use of a duck-bill shaped battle axe that inflicted partiularly terrible wounds. This king was not of the bloodline that ruled during the time of Yoseph and Yaaqob, when his entire family moved to Goshen during the seven years of area-wide famine. The new rulers were more concerned with the physical number of Yisrael living in their land, and the military implications that suc
h a large number presented to them as conquerors. They used many methods to dominate Yisrael, all of which were extreme physical labor under harsh treatment. The taskmasters mentioned here were placed over officers, that served the Hyksos rulers willingly for “priveleges”. In short, they were self-serving betrayers of their own people, just like many in power today that oppress their own, all for money and power. The situation today is nothing new. The birthing stools were a low chair-like affair, with a hole for the infant to pass through. The mother squatted for birthing, rather than lying down on her back. Gravity aided to pull the child from her body. It was quite efficient, and eased birth considerably.

Making them “houses” means making them a large family, as the House of Yisrael. The Book of Jasher expands these verses with better explanation in Jasher 66:1

12. He looked this way and that way, and when he saw there was no man, he smote the Mitsriy, and hid him in the sand.

23. It came to be in process of time, that the king of Mitsrayim died: and the children of Yisrael

Chapter 2 Notes

Verse 2 – A child being “good” means well formed and healthy. Acts 7:20; Heb.11:23;

Yashar (Jasher) 68:5

Verse 3 – The K.J.V. has “ark”, which literally means a box or container of some sort. The box here was of woven papyrus (paper-reed), that they used in the manufacture of paper back then. This was not as the ark of Noach, or the ornate Ark of the Covenant, but a simple affair, so “box” is proper.

Verse 5 – Yashar 68:17, 18 ; 519 as a lowly female servant, almost a slave.

Chapter 2 Notes

Verse 10 – Mosheh 4872 is the Hebrew version of the Egyptian “mosis”, and also was attached to the name of royalty, such as Tutmosis, etc. mosheh 4872 was raised as a royal child would be. Acts 7:21;

Verse 12 – “Smite” can mean to strike, or to kill by a blow. Severity depends on the context of individual word use. Yashar (Jasher) 71:3

Verse 16 – The book of Yashar gives much greater explanation on this entire section. Yashar 76:14

Verse 18 – Reuel 7467 is the man’s name, and means “friend of God”. In the next chapter he will also be called Yithro. This is a title, and means “his excellence”. They are the same man.

Verse 21 – Mosheh was imprisoned by Reuel for ten years. This is explained in the Book of Yashar. Tsipporah cared for him while he was imprisoned. When the king died that wanted to kill him, he was released. Reuel was a local official, with “his excellence” as his title. Yashar 77:51

Verse 22 – Ger’shom is related to ger’shom 1648, and 1616 ger means “sojourner”. 5237 is from 5234, which is racial alien. This entire word-line is connected to “alien”, meaning RACIAL alien. Yashar 78:9

Verse 23 – “bondage” here means slave labor, with brutal treatment.

3 1. Now Mosheh was shepherd of the flock of Yithro 3503 his father-in-law, the priest of Midyan: and he led the flock to the backside 310 of the desert 4057, and came to the mountain 2022 of Elohiym, to Choreb 2722.

2.The messenger 4397 of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame 3827 of fire 1197 from the midst of a bush 5572: and he looked, and behold, the bush burned 1197 with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3. Said Mosheh, “I will now turn aside 5493, and see this great sight 4758, why the bush is not burnt.”

4. And when Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, Elohiym called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, “Mosheh! Mosheh!” And he replied “Behold me!” \’.

5. Said He, “Do not draw near 7126 here: put off 5394 your sandals 5275 from your feet, because the place where you stand is Holy 6944 ground 127.”

6.Said He also, “I am Elohey 430 your forefathers, Elohey Abraham, Elohey Yitschaq, and Elohey Yaaqob.” And Mosheh hid his face, because he was afraid to look upon the Elohiym 430.

7. Said Yahweh, “I have surely seen the affliction 6040 of My people which are in Mitsrayim, and have heard their cry 6818 by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows 4341;

8. and I am come down to deliver them from the hand of Mitsrayim, and to bring them up from that land to a good 2896 land and large 7342, to a land flowing 2100 with milk 246l and

honey 1706; to the place of the Kenaaniy, the Chittiy, the Emoriy, the Perizziy, the Chiwwiy, and the Yebusiy.

9. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Yisrael is come to Me: and I have seen the oppression 3906 by which the Mitsrayim oppress 3905 them.

10. Come now therfore, and I will send you to Par\’oh, so that you may bring forth 3118 My people, the children of Yisrael out of Mitsrayim.”

11. Said Mosheh to Elohiym, “Who am I, that I should go to Par\’oh, and that I should bring forth the children of Yisrael out of Mitsrayim?”

Chapter 3 Notes

Verse 1 – Yithro is a title, meaning “his excellence”, as Reuel was a priest of some sort, and had standing and authority in the community.

Verse 6 – Remember that Elohiym is not a name, but a title of majesty when it refers to Yahweh. 430 has multiple uses, and configurations when tense is changed, so I try to note this in the margin

Verses 13 – 15 – Here the Holy Name is introduced. The Name was used by Mosheh when B\’reshiyth (Genesis) was written, because he knew the Name when the book was written at a later time. “I will become what I will become” is important, because Yahweh manifested Himself in many forms — burning bush, pillar of cloud, pillar of fire, a man that wrestled with Yaaqob, and Yahshua Messiah as the Redeemer of Yisrael. Hayah Asher Hayah is a prophecy in itself, as one of the foretellings of the Messiah to come. Verse 15 clearly states that YHWH is His Name forever, and is to be remembered, and never changed or hidden by a substitution of Adonay 136 (Lord) by a tradition of the elders. I have a Jewish Publication Society Tanakh, to access the Hebrew text, and even they say in their notes that Adonay was subs
tituted by TRADITION. YHWH (Yahweh for pronounciation) is The Holy Name, and no other.

Verse 20 – Yahweh is going to crush a mighty kingdom to show His power. This is to impress upon the minds of all the non-Yisrael nations the set-apart status of Yisrael.

Verse 22 — Yisrael is to plunder the Egyptians when they leave. This occurs in Shemoth 12:35.

Chapter 4 Notes

Verse 2 – The Rod of Yahweh makes its debut. It will be used to do many great works.

Verse 3 – The word for serpent here is the same as in Genesis. It can also mean enchanter, as it does in Genesis. Ex. 7:15

Verse 6 – Leprosy was a real attention-getter, as it was incurable by medical means. Only Yahweh could cure it. “Bosom” 2346 means inside the shirt, at the waist.

Verse 9 – The first of water becoming blood, and this will come into play later on.

Verse 10 – In the Book of Yasher (Jasher) 70:29, it explains that Mosheh had burned his mouth as an infant, and had a speech impediment as a result.

Chapter 5 Notes

This chapter is about the initial confrontation of Mosheh and Aharon, by the command of Yahweh, with Par\’oh. Par\’oh does not know Yahweh, as Par\’oh is a Hyksos conqueror, and did not know of the Elohiym of Yoseph and the Ibriyyim. Yahweh will proceed to set Par\’oh up for a fall, all to the glory of Yahweh, and through all He will do to the land of Mitsrayim He will demonstrate to all nations in the land the set-apart status of Yahweh’s people Yisrael. With the added workload, the officers, which were Hebrews, blame Mosheh and Aharon for their troubles. These men played up to their taskmasters, who were from Par\’oh, and now their bosses are beating on them to get them to push the people of Yisrael to work harder. Their job is not so good now, and they don’t like it. More misery comes upon Par\’oh in the next chapter.
