The actual name of this book is “In the Wilderness”. It has been changed to “Numbers”, because they mustered the troops, and counted them, so they called it “Numbers”. In this book, there are often several men with the same name in some passages, and they must be differentiated by their FATHER’s name. As in my prior works, all proper names of people and places will be in the Hebrew spelling, with English letters. When several English words are need for one Hebrew word I will underline them for the first usage, followed by their Strong\’© number. Compare this text with whatever translation you use, and you will note the differences where the scribes have tampered with the verses. Don’t be surprised at some radical differences, as the scribes have done much damage. Where Yahweh is speaking, the text will be in bold type.

49. “Only you shall not muster the tribe of Lewiy, nor take the sum of them among the sons of Yisrael:

50. but you shall appoint the Lewiyyim over the Tabernacle 4908 of Testimony 5715, and over all the vessels 3627 of it, and over all things of it: they shall carry the Tabernacle, and all the vessels of it; and they shall minister 8334 to it, and shall encamp 2583 round about the Tabernacle.

51. When the Tabernacle moves forward 5265, the Lewiyyim shall take it down: and when the Tabernacle is to be pitched 2538, the Lewiyyim shall set it up 6965: and the foreigner 2114 that comes near shall be put to death 4191.

52. The children of Yisrael shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard 1714, throughout their armies 6635.

53. But the Lewiyyim shall pitch round about the Tabernacle of Testimony, that there shall be no wrath 7110 upon the congregation of the children of Yisrael: and the Lewiyyim shall keep the charge 4931 of the Tabernacle of Testimony.”

Chapter 1 Notes – The Tabernacle of Testimony is also called the Tent of Meeting, as it was in fact a tent. 2538 refers to “pitching a tent”, and the Lewiyyim were in charge of setting up the Tabernacle, which when erected, housed the Ark of the Covenant, also called the Testimony. 2114 “foreigner” here means not of the sons of Aharon. Even other people of Yisrael were not allowed to approach the Ark, or the Tent housing it. This was serious business back then. 1714 will come into play when the standards are explained in Chapter 2.
